After the jailing of many innocent black folks in Memphis, Tennessee in 1892, an all Black Militia arrived called the Tennessee Rifles. They stood guard of the jail for a little over a week. Not allowing anyone inside the jail to unjustly harm. After leaving their post, all of the victims were hung. This sculpture was created as a guard dog. Not allowing anyone with the intent to harm to cross its line.
